Use: Medicinal

Properties: Sour, astringent, and slightly sweet; nontoxic.

Actions and indications: Clears heat and promotes contraction. Treats expectoration of blood due to pulmonary tuberculosis; bloody stool; enduring dysentery; acute tonsillitis; acute otitis media; wind ulceration of the eyelid rims.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (15–30g). Topical: Decoct as a wash or press juice to make gargle.
