Use: Medicinal

Properties: Sweet and astringent; balanced.

Actions and indications: Nourishes the blood, stanches bleeding, astringes the intestines and secures essence. Treats blood vacuity; vomiting of blood (blood ejection); nosebleed; bloody stool; malarial disease; prolapse of the rectum; seminal emission; flooding; vaginal discharge.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (6–15 dried, 30–60g fresh) or steep in wine. Topical: Burn preserving nature.

Quality: Large dry fruits that have not been attacked by insects or grubs.

Production area: Guǎngdōng, Guǎngxī, Táiwān, Fújiàn, Yúnnán, Guìzhōu, Húnán.
