Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter*; cold*.

Actions and indications: Drains heat, frees the stool, break accumulations, and moves stasis. Treats heat bind constipation; damp-heat jaundice; swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng); clove sore toxin; injury from knocks and falls; stasis swelling; burns and scalds.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (3–9g) or grind to a powder. Topical: Grind and sprinkle on affected area or apply mixed.
