Origin in unofficial sources: Polygonum orientale L.*; Polygonum lapathifolium L.; Polygonum lapathifolium L. var. salicifolium Sibth.

Use: Medicinal

Properties: Salty; cold.

Actions and indications: Disperses stasis and breaks accumulations; fortifies the spleen and disinhibits dampness. Treats concretions and gatherings in the rib-side; water drum; stomach pain; reduced eating; abdominal distension; fire eye (huǒ yǎn); swollen sores; scrofula.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (2–3g regular).

Warnings: Contraindicated in absence of stasis and in spleen vacuity.
