Properties: Bitter and acrid; cool.

Actions and indications: Quickens the blood and stanches bleeding; resolves toxin. Treats vomiting of blood (blood ejection); nosebleed (nǜ xuè); menstrual irregularities; injury from knocks and falls; wrenching-contusion; swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng) and sore-toxin.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g dried, 3–6g fresh). Topical: Apply crushed.
