Category:

Properties: Salty and acrid; warm; toxic.

Channel entry: Stomach, lung, and large intestine channels.

Indications:

Frees the orifices, flushes phlegm, tracks wind, and kills worms.

wind stroke with clenched jaw; head wind; wind epilepsy; throat impediment (hóu bì); phlegm panting; glomus and fullness; swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng); scab (jiè), lài, lichen (xiǎn), and head sores.

Quality: Small plump hard fruits that are purplish black and shiny on the outside and light green on the cross section and that have sticky flesh are the best.

Product Area: Produced mainly in Sìchuān, Guìzhōu, Yúnnán, and Shāndōng; also produced in Shǎnxī (Shaanxi), Húběi, Hénán, Shānxī, ānhuī, Hénán, and Jiāngsū.
