Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter and slightly acrid; balanced.

Actions and indications: Moistens the lung and calms cough; reduces inflammation, promotes lactation, regulates menstruation, and stanches bleeding. Treats coughs and common cold; bronchitis; mastitis; swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng), sores, and boils; breast milk stoppage; menstrual irregularities; flooding and spotting; vaginal discharge; nosebleed (nǜ xuè). Topical: oral: decoct.
