Properties: Sweet; cool.

Actions and indications: Clears heat; transforms phlegm; cools the liver; stanches bleeding. Treats heat vexation; mouth sores; coughing of blood; vomiting of blood (blood ejection); medial headache (regular headache) or hemilateral headache (migraine); eye screens; flowery vision or clouded vision; heat strangury; jaundice; bleeding from knife wounds.

Dosage and method: Oral: Soak in boiling water (9–15g) or use in pills and powders.
