Properties: Sweet and slightly acrid; cold; slightly toxic*.

Channel entry: Liver and stomach channels.*

Actions and indications: Clears heat and resolves toxin; disperses concretions and binds. Treats swelling of welling- and flat-abscesses (yōng jū) and clove sores (dīng); scrofula; painful swollen throat; snake, insect, and rabid dog bites.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (3–6g) or make into pills. Topical: Grind to a powder and apply mixed.

Production area: Cremastra variabilis: From the Yellow River basin to south-western China. Pleione bulbocodioides: South-western.
