Talcum Gruel
滑石粥 〔滑石粥〕 huá shí zhōu
Source: Shòu Qīn Yǎng Lǎo Xīn Shū 寿亲养老新书
Ingredients
- Huá shí (滑石 Talcum , talcum) 20–30g
- Qú mài (瞿麦 Dianthi Herba, dianthus) 10g
- Jīng mǐ (粳米 Oryzae Semen, non-glutinous rice) 30–60g
Actions: Clears heat and disinhibits urine.
Indications: Talcum is sweet, bland and cold. It disinhibits water and opens the orifices (mainly meaning the anterior yīn). Dianthus clears heat, disinhibits water, and frees strangury, and is particularly effective for heat strangury with ungratifying dribbling urination and pain in the urethra.
Method: Wrap talcum in muslin and decoct with dianthus. Cook the rice to a thin gruel in the strained decoction.
