Ingredients:

• Huáng bǎi (黄柏 Phellodendri Cortex, phellodendron [bark]) 90g
• Shā rén (砂仁 Amomi Fructus, amomum [fruit]) 30g
• Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 18g

Action: Drains fire and checks seminal emission.

Indication: Frenetic stirring of kidney fire manifesting as dream emissions or seminal efflux.

Category:

Rationale: Huáng bǎi is cold bitter heat-draining agent that is particularly apt at draining kidney fire. Hence, it is the main agent in this formula. Shā rén arouses the spleen and harmonizes the stomach. Gān cǎo harmonizes all the other two agents and prevents them from damaging the stomach, as they can do if the formula is taken over a long period of time. The three agents together address intense kidney fire disturbing the essence gate.
