Ingredients

• Dà fù pí (大腹皮 Arecae Pericarpium, areca husk) 10–15g
• Jīng mǐ (粳米 Oryzae Semen, non-glutinous rice) 30–60g

Actions: Precipitates qì, disperses accumulations, and expels worms.

Indications: Food accumulation and qì stagnation with fullness in the stomach duct and abdomen, ungratifying defecation, diarrhea and tenesmus, and worm infestations.

Rationale: Bīng láng is warm, bitter and acrid. It enters the spleen, stomach, and large intestine channels. It breaks accumulation, precipitates qì, kills worms, and moves water. It is commonly used for food stagnation and worm accumulations.

Variations: For worm accumulation as opposed to general food stagnation, increase the range to 30–60g.
