Source: Bèi Jí Qiān Jīn Yào Fāng 备急千金要方

Ingredients

• Sān qī (三七 Notoginseng Radix, notoginseng [root]) 60g
• Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) (mix-fried) 60g
• Ròu guì (肉桂 Cinnamomi Cortex, cinnamon bark) (with rough bark removed) 60g
• Bàn xià (半夏 Pinelliae Rhizoma, pinellia [rhizome]) (wash in hot water seven time, slice, and bake dry) 60g

Indications: Counterflow ascent of vacuity cold; and seven-affect internal bind with hard concretion or conglomeration, gripping pain in the heart [region] and abdomen, and inability to eat or drink.

Method: Grind to a coarse powder.

Dosage: 9g at a time decocted with three slices of fresh ginger before meals.

Notes: The seven qì appear to refer to the seven affects (qī qíng). The Bèi Jí Qiān Jīn Yào Fāng the indications were attributable to internal binding of the seven affects.
