Discharge-Curing Pill

愈带丸 〔愈帶丸〕 yù dài wán

Ingredients

Actions: Clears heat and dries dampness; promotes astriction and checks vaginal discharge.

Indications: Red and white or yellow vaginal discharge that is sticky in substance and has a bad odor, accompanied by other heat signs such as dry mouth, and reddish urine. Tongue: Red with yellow fur. Pulse: Fine and rapid.

Rationale: Chūn pí clears heat and dries dampness. In addition, it secures and astringes. Hence, it is used in large quantities as the sovereign agent. Huáng bǎi clears and transforms lower-burner damp-heat, while Bái sháo constrain yīn and harmonizes provisioning. Gāo liáng jiāng is a counteracting assistant (fǎn zuǒ yào) that warms the center and disperses cold. It prevents the cold agents from damaging the stomach and spleen, ensures that in astriction there is also dispersion, and allows the heat to be cleared without retaining the dampness.
