Indications:
- Ejects heat phlegm and food: Phlegm-heat lying depressed in the chest; abiding food.
- Dispels dampness and abates jaundice: Damp-heat jaundice.
Dosage & Method:
Oral: 2.5–5g in decoctions; use 0.3–1.0g per dose as a powder or in pills. If administered by insufflation, use just enough to induce yellow water to flow out, then stop. To prevent further vomiting, avoid swallowing the yellow fluid in the nose.
Warning:
Contraindicated in weak health, vomiting of blood (blood ejection) (vomiting or expectoration of blood), and in the absence of repletion evils in the upper body. If the reaction is too violent, and unceasing vomiting results, 0.01–0.015g of shè xiāng (Moschus) taken drenched in warm water can stop it.
