Corydalis Decoction
延胡索汤 〔延胡索湯〕 yán hú suǒ tāng

Ingredients
- Yán hú suǒ (延胡索 Corydalis Rhizoma, corydalis [rhizome]) 45g
- Pú huáng (蒲黄 Typhae Pollen, typha pollen) 15g
- Chì sháo (赤芍 Paeoniae Radix Rubra, red peony [root]) 15g
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 15g
- Ròu guì (肉桂 Cinnamomi Cortex, cinnamon bark) 15g
- Jiāng huáng (姜黄 Curcumae Longae Rhizoma, turmeric) 90g
- Rǔ xiāng (乳香 Olibanum , frankincense) 90g
- Mò yào (没药 Myrrha , myrrh) 90g
- Mù xiāng (木香 Aucklandiae Radix, costusroot) 90g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 7.5g
- Shēng jiāng (生姜 Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, fresh ginger)
Actions: Dispels stasis and relieves pain.
Indications: Menstrual pain in the heart [region] and abdomen, sometimes with excruciating pain down the back and in severe cases convulsions, and menstrual irregularities.
Method: Grind to a powder.
Dosage: 12g at a time decocted with seven slices of ginger and strained.
Variations: Vomiting: Add Bàn xià (半夏 Pinelliae Rhizoma, pinellia [rhizome]) and Jú hóng (橘红 Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Rubrum, red tangerine peel).
