Source: Hé Jì Jú Fāng 和剂局方

Ingredients:

• Wǔ líng zhī (五灵脂 Trogopteri Faeces, squirrel's droppings) 10–15g
• Pú huáng (蒲黄 Typhae Pollen, typha pollen) 10–15g

Action: Quickens the blood, dispels stasis, and relieves pain.

Indication: Pain in the heart [region] and abdomen, menstrual pain, retention of lochia, and flooding and spotting due to static blood. Tongue: Bearing stasis speckles. Pulse: Rough or stringlike.

Category: Blood-rectifying formulas / Blood-quickening stasis-transforming formulas

Method: Grind to a fine powder.

Dosage: 3–6g 1–2 times a day (decoction: 9–12g boiled in a bag).

Rationale: Both Wǔ líng zhī and Pú huáng move the blood and dispel stasis. Pú huáng also stanches bleeding.
