Cough-Quieting Soup
宁嗽汤 〔寧嗽湯〕 níng sòu tāng
Source: Zá Bìng Yuán Liú Xī Zhú 杂病源流犀烛‧脏腑门
Ingredients
- Jié gěng (桔梗 Platycodonis Radix, platycodon [root])
- Bàn xià (半夏 Pinelliae Rhizoma, pinellia [rhizome])
- Zhǐ ké (qiào) (枳壳 Aurantii Fructus, bitter orange)
- Chén pí (陈皮 Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, tangerine peel)
- Qián hú (前胡 Peucedani Radix, peucedanum [root])
- Gé gēn (葛根 Puerariae Radix, pueraria [root])
- Sāng bái pí (桑白皮 Mori Cortex, mulberry bark)
- Fú líng (茯苓 Poria , poria)
- Zǐ sū yè (紫苏叶 Perillae Folium, perilla leaf)
- Xìng rén (杏仁 Armeniacae Semen, apricot kernel)
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root])
Indications: Cough from externally contracted wind-cold.
Method: Decoct with ginger and jujubes.
