Ingredients

• Jīn yín huā (金银花 Lonicerae Flos, lonicera [flower]) 30g
• Pú gōng yīng (蒲公英 Taraxaci Herba, dandelion) 30g
• Mǔ dān pí (牡丹皮 Moutan Cortex, moutan [bark]) 15g
• Dà huáng (大黄 Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, rhubarb) 15g
• Chuān liàn zǐ (川楝子 Toosendan Fructus, toosendan [fruit]) 9g
• Chì sháo (赤芍 Paeoniae Radix Rubra, red peony [root])
• Táo rén (桃仁 Persicae Semen, peach kernel) 12g
• Shēng gān cǎo (生甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix Cruda, raw licorice [root]) 9g

Actions: Clears heat and resolves toxin; moves qì and quickens the blood.

Indications: Acute appendicitis in the brewing heat stage, the early stages of swelling and suppuration, or mild peritonitis characterized by low-grade heat effusion or postmeridian tidal heat effusion (heat effusion occurring after noon), bitter taste in the mouth, pronounced abdominal pain, constipation, and yellow urine. Note that acute appendicitis and peritonitis fall within the category of intestinal welling-abscess (cháng yōng) in Chinese medicine).

Method: Decoct with water.
