Painful contraction and contortion of the sinews due to insufficiency of qì and blood, fatigue, dampness, or cold. It usually affects the sinews of the calf, and, in severe cases, can affect those of the abdomen, as is commonly the case after vomiting and diarrhea in cholera. See cholera cramps.
