Cold malaria

寒疟 〔寒瘧〕hán nüè

Malaria resulting from the contraction of wind-cold when there is deep-lying internal cold. Cold malaria occurs in episodes daily or every other day, which are characterized by heat effusion and aversion to cold, where the aversion to cold is more pronounced than the heat effusion. Heat effusion and aversion to cold are accompanied by headache, little or no sweating, and a forceful tight stringlike pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Treat by warming resolution using formulas such as Bupleurum, Cinnamon Twig, and Dried Ginger (柴胡桂姜汤 chái hú guì jiāng tāng) and variations.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on GV, SI, PC, and BL. Select GV-14 (Great Hammer, 大椎 dà zhuī), GV-13 (Kiln Path, 陶道 táo dào), SI-3 (Back Ravine, 后溪 hòu xī), PC-5 (Intermediary Courier, 间使 jiān shǐ), BL-28 (Bladder Transport, 膀胱俞 páng guāng shù), and BL-67 (Reaching Yīn, 至阴 zhì yīn), and needle with drainage and add moxa.
