Cold epilepsy

寒痫 〔寒癇〕 hán xián

Epilepsy attributed to externally contracted wind-cold binding in the chest and diaphragm in children suffering from damage to the spleen and stomach. Cold epilepsy is characterized by sudden collapse and loss of consciousness, and foaming of phlegm and drool at the mouth.

Medicinal therapy: Warm the center and transform phlegm using Phlegm-Abducting Decoction (导痰汤 dǎo tán tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Apply the treatments for episodes given under epilepsy, and apply moxibustion at KI-1 (Gushing Spring, 湧泉 yǒng quán), CV-17 (Chest Center, 膻中 shān zhōng), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo).
