Cold block
寒闭 〔寒閉〕 hán bì
A block pattern arising when phlegm-damp or static blood blocks the orifices of the heart, often observed in wind stroke. It is marked by sudden clouding collapse with phlegm-drool welling upward, green-blue complexion, cold body, white tongue fur, and a slow pulse. (Phlegm-drool refers to relatively thin, clear mucus, vomited from the stomach or coughed up from the chest.) It is treated by warm opening, in which orifice-opening medicinals are usually combined with cold-dispelling and qì-moving medicinals.
