When yáng is vacuous, there is external cold

阳虚则外寒 〔陽虛則外寒〕yáng xū zé wài hán

From Plain Questions (素问 sù wèn, tiáo jīng lùn). Yáng vacuity, i.e., qì vacuity or insufficiency of the life gate fire manifests in cold signs such as bright-white facial complexion, aversion to cold, cold limbs, and a tendency to catch colds.
