Advanced menstruation (i.e., premature arrival of periods) attributed to insufficiency of yīn blood with vacuity heat harassing the thoroughfare (chōng) and controlling (rèn) vessels. The menstrual flow is scant, bright red, thick, and sticky. Attending signs include reddening of the cheeks and heat in the palms and soles.

Medicinal therapy: Nourish yīn and clear heat. Use formulas such as Lycium Root Bark Beverage (地骨皮饮 dì gǔ pí yǐn) and Rehmannia and Lycium Root Bark Decoction (两地汤 liǎng dì tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, SP, and KI. Needle with supplementation at CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), SP-10 (Sea of Blood, 血海 xuè hǎi), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), and with drainage at KI-2 (Blazing Valley, 然谷 rán gǔ) and HT-8 (Lesser Mansion, 少府 shào fǔ).
