Transverse insertion
横刺 〔橫刺〕héng cì
Insertion of an acupuncture needle at an angle of about 15°; it is applied to the head, chest, back, and abdomen, and on parts of the body with little flesh beneath the skin. A transverse insertion is also used in point joining, whereby the needle passes through two or more acupuncture points.
