Chicken pox

水痘 〔水痘〕 shuǐ dòu

A contagious disease of children first recorded In On Pox Formulas (痘疹方论 dòu zhěn fāng lùn) (CE 1518) by Cai Wei-Fan. It is characterized by heat effusion, and bursts of macular and papular eruptionsand is attributed to seasonal wind-toxin and brewing internal damp-heat harassing the defense aspect.

Medicinal therapy: Course wind, clear heat, and resolve toxin using Lonicera and Forsythia Powder (银翘散 yín qiào sǎn) as the main formula. Where pox papules burst and erode, Indigo Powder (青黛散 qīng dài sǎn) can be applied topically.
