Teeth are the surplus of the bone
齿为骨之余 〔齒為骨之餘〕chǐ wéi gǔ zhī yú
The teeth are the product of a surplus qì of the bone, and since the kidney governs the bone, the teeth are considered to be related to the kidney qì. The growth and condition of the teeth are considered as a reflection of kidney qì. See slowness to teethe; change of teeth; loosening of the teeth; desiccated teeth; black teeth.
