Swelling

肿 〔腫〕 zhǒng

Enlargement due to an accumulation of water, blood, or pus. Localized swelling occurs with sores. Distinction is made between toxin swelling, which is swelling due to toxins and associated with welling-abscesses yōng, flat-abscesses jū, boils jié, clove sores dīng chuāng, and other sores, and water swelling, swelling due to water accumulation stemming from disease of the lung, spleen, and kidney, and including vacuity swelling, repletion swelling, yīn water, yáng water, and wind water, etc.
