Small intestine mounting

小肠疝 〔小腸疝〕 xiǎo cháng shàn

A mounting disease characterized by cold pain in the smaller abdomen stretching into the testicles and the lumbus and back. Small intestine mounting is attributed to small intestine vacuity and the invasion of wind-cold.

Medicinal therapy: Warm, promote qì transformation, and move qì with medicinals such as fennel (Foeniculi Fructus, 茴香 huí xiāng), toosendan (Toosendan Fructus, 川楝子 chuān liàn zǐ), evodia (Evodiae Fructus, 吴茱萸 wú zhū yú), tangerine peel (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 陈皮 chén pí), kalimeris (Kalimeridis Herba et Radix, 马兰 mǎ lán), and coriander (Coriandri Herba cum Radice, 胡荽 hú suī).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on SI, LR, and CV. Select CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), SI-3 (Back Ravine, 后溪 hòu xī), SI-1 (Lesser Marsh, 少泽 shào zé), LR-1 (Large Pile, 大敦 dà dūn), LR-2 (Moving Between, 行间 xíng jiān), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo); needle with drainage and moxa.
