Slimy tongue fur
腻苔 〔膩苔〕nì tāi
A tongue with a turbid slimy coating that is not easily removed and that does not have the grainy appearance of a healthy tongue fur. A slimy tongue fur is a sign of damp turbidity, phlegm-rheum, or food accumulation, the evil being judged as strong when the slimy coating is generalized. A slimy fur that covers only the center or the root of the tongue indicates a chronic condition, and disappears easily.
