Medicinal therapy: Enrich yīn and drain fire. Use Gypsum and Apricot-Leaved Adenophora Decoction (石子荠苨汤shí zǐ jì ní tāng) or Coptis and Pig’s Stomach Pill (黄连猪肚丸huáng lián zhū dǔ wán). For exuberant fire and yīn vacuity, add scrophularia (Scrophulariae Radix, 玄参xuán shēn), ophiopogon (Ophiopogonis Radix, 麦门冬mài mén dōng), and dried/fresh rehmannia (Rehmanniae Radix, 生地黄shēng dì huáng). For debilitation of kidney qì and frenetic stirring of vacuity fire, warm and supplement the kidney origin using Cistanche Pill (苁蓉丸cōng róng wán) from A Unified Treatise on Diseases, Patterns, and Remedies According to the Three Causes (三因极一病症方论 sān yīn jí yī bìng zhèng fāng lùn) or Velvet Deerhorn Pill (鹿茸丸lù róng wán) from The Great Peace Sagacious Benevolence Formulary (太平圣惠方 tài píng shèng huì fāng).
