Brain-gripping sand

控脑痧 〔控腦痧〕kòng nǎo shā

1. A disease marked by runny nose with yellow watery discharge associated with dryness in the nose, impaired sense of smell, and occasional nosebleeds, and attributed to damp-heat.

Biomedical correspondence: atrophic rhinitis. Compare withered nose.

Medicinal therapy: Treat with Dryness-Clearing Lung-Rescuing Decoction (清燥救肺汤 qīng zào jiù fèi tāng) minus gypsum (Gypsum Fibrosum, 石膏 shí gāo).

2. Severe deep-source nasal congestion.

Etymology

Chinkòng, grasp, control, accuse; 脑 nǎo, brain; 痧 shā, sand sickness, see sand shā.
