Pinworm disease

蛲虫病 〔蟯蟲病〕náo chóng bìng

Also kidney worm disease. The Origin and Indicators of Disease (诸病源候论 zhū bìng yuán hòu lùn). One of the three worm diseases and one of the nine worm diseases. Pinworm disease is most common in infants and children. It is associated with nighttime anal itch that can affect sleep, heart vexation, and susceptibility to fright.

Medicinal therapy: Medicinals effective in treating pinworm include stemona (Stemonae Radix, 百部 bǎi bù), aspidium (Aspidii Rhizoma, 贯众 guàn zhòng), carpesium seed (Carpesii Fructus, 鹤虱 hè shī), omphalia (Omphalia, 雷丸 léi wán), garlic (Allii Sativi Bulbus, 大蒜 dà suàn), morning glory (Pharbitidis Semen, 牵牛子 qiān niú zǐ), pomegranate rind (Granati Pericarpium, 石榴皮 shí liú pí), quisqualis (Quisqualis Fructus, 使君子 shǐ jūn zǐ), and brucea (Bruceae Fructus, 鸦胆子 yā dǎn zǐ). For example, rhubarb (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 大黄 dà huáng), morning glory (Pharbitidis Semen, 牵牛子 qiān niú zǐ), and quisqualis (Quisqualis Fructus, 使君子 shǐ jūn zǐ) can be used as oral medication, and use fluids of stemona (Stemonae Radix, 百部 bǎi bù) and garlic (Allii Sativi Bulbus, 大蒜 dà suàn) as enemas. Worm-Transforming Pill (化虫丸 huà chóng wán) can also be used. Pay attention to regular change of clothing to prevent reinfection.
