Moxibustion on pepper cake

The application of moxibustion on a thin cake of made of white pepper (Piperis Fructus Albicatus, 白胡椒 bái hú jiāo) as an insulating medium. The cake is made by blending the pepper with flour and water and forming the mass into cakes, which are then allowed to dry.

Method A pinch of Clove and Cinnamon Powder (丁桂散 dīng guì sǎn) is placed on the cake at the site to be moxaed. The moxa cone is placed on top and ignited. Moxibustion on pepper cake is used to treat impediment (bì) patterns (chronic rheumatoid arthritis).
