Mild conditions are treated by counteraction

微者逆之 〔微者逆之〕 wēi zhě nì zhī

From Plain Questions (素问 sù wèn). Conditions that are not severe are treated by a therapy of opposite nature, e.g., cold is treated with heat, and heat is treated with cold. Counteraction is also referred to as straight treatment.
