Liver-stomach qì pain

肝胃气痛 〔肝胃氣痛〕gān wèi qì tòng

Also qì depression stomach duct pain. Stomach pain arising when affect-mind binding depression (mental or emotional imbalance) causes liver qì to invade the stomach. Systematized Patterns with Clear-Cut Treatments (类证治裁 lèi zhèng zhì cái) states, When stomach duct pain is due to the liver exploiting the stomach, there is surging qì and rib-side distension.

Medicinal therapy: Restrain the liver with acridity and sourness, using medicinals such as evodia (Evodiae Fructus, 吴茱萸 wú zhū yú), white peony (Paeoniae Radix Alba, 白芍药 bái sháo yào), unripe tangerine peel (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 青皮 qīng pí), chaenomeles (Chaenomelis Fructus, 木瓜 mù guā), officinal magnolia bark (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, 厚朴 hòu pò), corydalis (Corydalis Rhizoma, 延胡索 yán hú suǒ), and kumquat (Fortunellae Fructus, 金橘 jīn jú).
