Kidney vacuity delayed menstruation

肾虚经行后期 〔腎虛經行後期〕shèn xū jīng xíng hòu qī

Delayed menstruation (arrival of menstrual periods eight days or more later than the expected time) due to kidney vacuity arising when congenital insufficiency, early marriage, excessive childbirth, or sexual intemperance causes damage to kidney qì and lead to depletion of essence-blood and insufficiency of the thoroughfare (chōng) and controlling (rèn) vessels, preventing the uterus from filling on time. The flow is scant and is accompanied by a dizzy head and tinnitus, and limp aching lumbus and knees.

Medicinal therapy: Supplement the kidney and nourish yīn. Use Yīn-Securing Brew (固阴煎 gù yīn jiān) plus cinnamon bark (Cinnamomi Cortex, 肉桂 ròu guì) or Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill (六味地黄丸 liù wèi dì huáng wán).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV and the three yīn channels of the foot. Select CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), KI-13 (Qì Point, 气穴 qì xué), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), and KI-6 (Shining Sea, 照海 zhào hǎi); needle with supplementation.
