Heat toxin precipitation of blood

热毒下血 〔熱毒下血〕rè dú xià xuè

Discharging blood from the anus, attributable to heat toxin brewing in the large intestine and causing frenetic movement of the blood. Heat toxin precipitation of blood is characterized by bright red bloody stool, abdominal pain, burning pain in the anus, and dry mouth and tongue.

Medicinal therapy: Clear heat and resolve toxin; cool the blood and stanch bleeding. Use Coptis Pill (黄连丸 huáng lián wán) and Blood-Cooling Rehmannia Decoction (凉血地黄汤 liáng xuè dì huáng tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on BL, ST, and LI. Select ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), BL-25 (Large Intestine Transport, 大肠俞 dà cháng shù), ST-37 (Upper Great Hollow, 上巨虚 shàng jù xū), GV-1 (Long Strong, 长强 cháng qiáng), BL-57 (Mountain Support, 承山 chéng shān), BL-32 (Second Bone-Hole, 次髎 cì liáo), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), and PC-8 (Palace of Toil, 劳宫 láo gōng); needle with drainage.
