Green-leg gān of the teeth and gums
青腿牙疳 〔青腿牙疳〕qīng tuǐ yá gān
Gān of the teeth and gums accompanied by green-blue swelling of the lower limbs. Green-leg gān of the teeth and gums is attributed to cold-damp qì stagnating in the channels, causing inhibited flow of qì and blood, and resulting in stasis in the lower body. With depressed heat in the stomach and intestines, heat toxin surges upward to scorch the teeth and gums, causing sore swollen gums, and gradual ulceration, putrefaction, and bleeding. In severe cases, the ulceration can pierce the cheek and spread to the lips, whereas the green-blue coloring of the legs forms into pronounced cloud-like patches the color of eggplants, with painful hard swelling of the sinews and flesh that makes walking difficult.
