Flesh tumor

肉瘤 〔肉瘤〕ròu liú

A swelling on the body's surface that is initially the size of a peach and gradually grows to the size of a fist, has a broad root, is firm but suppleand is associated with no change in skin color or signs of heat or cold. A flesh tumor is attributed to binding depression of spleen qì stemming from damage to the spleen by thought and anxiety.

Biomedical correspondence: myofibroma; lipoma.

Medicinal therapy: Fortify the spleen and boost qì; open depression and transform phlegm. Use variations of Spleen-Returning Decoction (归脾汤 guī pí tāng).
