Extended tongue
伸舌 〔伸舌〕shēn shé
Also protracted tongue. A tongue that is habitually extended out of the mouth and cannot be retracted. An extended tongue that feels scorching hot accompanied by unclear spirit-mind reflects phlegm-heat evil harassing the heart spirit affecting the sprout of the heart
(the tongue).
Medicinal therapy: Clear the heart and transform phlegm. A limp, numb, extended tongue is usually a sign of qì vacuity. Compare protrusion and agitation of the tongue.
