Expelling cold and opening the orifices

逐寒开窍 〔逐寒開竅〕 zhú hán kāi qiào

Also warm opening. To treat cold-damp phlegm turbidity obstructing the pericardium with coma by means of formulas such as Storax Pill (苏合香丸 sū hé xiāng wán). This method is used, for example, in the treatment of wind stroke with clouding collapse, unconsciousness, green-blue or white complexion, cold limbs and a sunken pulse. See opening the orifices.
