Eight meeting points
八会穴 〔八會穴〕bā huì xué
A set of eight points, each of which treats diseases of one of eight physiological entities: the viscera, bowels, qì, blood, sinews, marrow, vessels, and bones (see list below).
Application: The meeting points are used to treat a general category of disease and are combined with others to address the specific needs of a patient. For example, BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), the meeting point of the blood, can be combined with SP-1 (Hidden White, 隐白 yǐn bái) and LR-1 (Large Pile, 大敦 dà dūn) to treat flooding and spotting, and GB-34 (Yáng Mound Spring, 阳陵泉 yáng líng quán), the meeting point of the sinews, can be coupled with local points in the treatment of sprains and strains in any part of the body.
Eight Meeting Points
- Viscera: LR-13 (Spirit shén mén)
- Bowels: CV-12 (Center Burner, zhōng wǎn)
- Qì: CV-17 (Chest Center, dàn zhōng)
- Blood: BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, gé shù)
- Sinews: GB-34 (Yáng Mound Spring, yáng líng quán)
- Vessels: LU-9 (Great Abyss, tài yuán)
- Bone: BL-11 (Great Suttle, dà zhù)
- Marrow: GB-39 (Severed Bone, jué gǔ)
