One of the twelve formula types. Downbearing [medicinals] can eliminate upbearing, i.e., they can treat counterflow ascent. An example of a downbearing formula is Perilla Seed Qì-Downbearing Decoction (苏子降气汤 sū zǐ jiàng qì tāng), which contains the downbearing agent perilla seed (Perillae Fructus, 紫苏子 zǐ sū zǐ) and treats panting.
