Discharging formula

One of the ten formula types. Discharging [medicinals] can eliminate blocks. Formulas containing discharging and draining medicinals treat interior repletion patterns. For example, Lepidium/Descurainiae and Jujube Lung-Draining Decoction (葶苈大枣泻肺汤 tíng lì dà zǎo xiè fèi tāng) is used to treat lung repletion patterns of cough, rapid breathing, and copious phlegm, whereas Six Milled Ingredients Decoction (六磨汤 liù mò tāng) is used to treat constipation due to qì depression accompanied by belching, chest and rib-side distension and fullness (and abdominal pain in severe cases), a slimy yellow tongue fur, and a stringlike pulse.
