Diaphragm phlegm

膈痰 〔膈痰〕 gé tán

A phlegm pattern of qì counterflow and phlegm congestion arising when phlegm gathers and binds in the chest and diaphragm preventing normal upbearing and downbearing of qì. Signs include glomus and fullness in the abdomen and heart region, shortness of breath that prevents the patient from lying flat, dizzy head and dim vision, and frequent desire to vomit.

Medicinal therapy: Downbear qì and flush phlegm.
