Detriment to yīn affects yáng
阴损及阳 〔陰損及陽〕 yīn sǔn jí yáng
Any major loss to yīn ultimately causes loss to yáng. Given the interdependence of yīn and yáng, major loss to either one ultimately affects the other (see also detriment to yáng affects yīn). Since yīn-humor and yáng qì are interdependent in the body, yīn vacuity, when reaching a certain peak, can cause yáng vacuity in keeping with the principle that without yīn, yáng cannot arise.
Thus liver-kidney yīn vacuity can easily cause ascendant hyperactivity of liver yáng or liver wind.
