Depressed wood transforming into fire

木郁化火 〔木鬱化火〕mù yù huà huǒ

Depressed liver qì causing fire signs such as red face, red eyes, headache, dizziness, vomiting and retching, coughing of blood, and, in severe cases, mania. Wood in this context means the liver according to the five-phase understanding that the liver belongs to wood. However, fire means fire as an evil, not the viscus that belongs to fire, which is the heart.
