Deep-lying heat in the thoroughfare and controlling vessels
热伏冲任 〔熱伏衝任〕 rè fú chōng rèn
A disease pattern arising when evil heat affects the thoroughfare (chōng) and controlling (rèn) vessels, causing wear on yīn-essence and depletion of kidney yīn, and in some cases frenetic movement of the blood. Clinical signs include low fever, lumbar pain, and uterine bleeding, and lower abdominal pain. The heat in this pattern is described as deep-lying
because overt signs of the heat are not as pronounced as the damage to yīn caused by it.
